Captain Rich McNevin
Embarking on my law enforcement journey in 1994, my career began humbly as a dispatcher for the West Palm Beach Police Department. The intricate world of law enforcement called, and in 1998, I answered that call by attending the police academy. March of 1999 marked a significant milestone as I joined the ranks of the Boynton Beach Police Department.
Over the years, my career within the Boynton Beach Police Department evolved through diverse roles. I served as a Traffic Homicide Reconstructionist, delving into the intricate details of accident investigation. Progressing through the ranks, I assumed roles as Road Patrol Sergeant and Traffic Sergeant, contributing to the operational efficiency of the department.
My journey reached new heights when I took on the mantle of Captain, overseeing several critical divisions within the agency. This role allowed me to blend leadership and experience, guiding teams towards excellence.
The trajectory of my career took a profound turn in 2008 when I faced a life-altering event — being shot in the line of duty. This experience not only tested my resilience but also fueled a determination to continue serving and contributing to the field of law enforcement.
In 2019, another chapter unfolded with an on-duty shooting. Navigating through these critical incidents has provided me with a unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs that define a law enforcement career.
Driven by a commitment to support my fellow officers, I’ve dedicated myself to sharing the insights gained from these experiences. My aim is to help others navigate the complexities of critical incidents that inevitably punctuate a law enforcement career.
Beyond the challenges, my journey is characterized by a steadfast dedication to the principles of justice and the betterment of our community. As I continue to serve, I look forward to contributing to the growth and resilience of law enforcement professionals, ensuring that each officer is equipped to face the dynamic challenges of our noble profession.
